Dear Readers: All we want for Christmas: your holiday sweaters

Last year we asked you to send us pictures of your favorite pilly, silly Christmas sweater. You know, the one with snow-capped shoulder pads? Little did we know we were tapping into a movement. The hideous sweater is becoming a new holiday tradition.

In some workplaces, “bad-sweater parties” are replacing the traditional office blowout. Last year, some workers at REI in Kent posed in delightfully tacky Christmas sweaters. And Rodger P. Mulholland, a Kirkland accounting firm, turned the idea into a contest (pictured), with men’s and women’s divisions. “It took a lot of shopping at Goodwill and thrift stores to find them,” says Carol Mulholland.

Others are looking on Craigslist. (Someone near Minneapolis recently posted, “I’m looking for two of the most obnoxious, hideous Christmas sweaters I can find.”)

So send us a photo of you modeling your best - and by that we mean worst - holiday sweater, and we’ll print photos of the winners. Send an e-mail attachment to talktous@seattletimes.com. Be sure to include the names of the people in the photo, as well as your contact information. Deadline is Dec. 19. Sorry, there is no prize: You’ve already got the sweater!
